I was up at 9 and off into town. Unfortunately the day didn't start too well as I had an appointment with pain! By which I mean the terrible day I have to face roughly every 7 weeks when I get the hair that grows at the top of my back viciously removed by hot wax. It's fucking agony. The annoying thing is, it's not like anyone sees that part of me anyway as I'm not exactly the sort of person to walk round with no shirt on but I have to do it so as not to feel too gross.
After that I walked through the square where there was some kind of show on with many stalls. I was immediately interested to see there was one for the local astronomy society. I have a telescope but unfortunately, now living in a flat, it's not something I get to use all that often. Unfortunately I left town in a bit of a grump because my intense shyness had prevented me from approaching the stall and chatting to the people there and so I feel I let myself down.
Getting home, I had some lunch and then tidied the kitchen and cleaned my bedroom. I even helped a little spider out of the window. Since then I have been mainly playing some games and reading a new book (out loud so that I can do all the voices obviously!)
As I wait to hear from Mr Deeley about the plans for tonight's trip to the pub (I've been waiting some time to hear back from him...) I thought I should keep up this productive day and fit in another episode of Supernatural.
Well that's a disaster right from the start! Dean is fighting some kind of monster in a basement. He fires a taser at him but unfortunately he doesn't realise that both him and the creature are standing in a puddle of water and as such Dean has been electrocuted and is now slumped on the floor all wet and unconscious.....That isn't the disaster though. The disaster is that I'm not there to "look after him" whilst he's all wet and unconscious......Is that too dark? Maybe, but you can't deny it wouldn't cross your mind. I imagine this to be the conversation upon him awaking..naked.
Dean: Where are my clothes??
Me: Oh....well.....ermmm....they blew away in a storm.
Dean: Why does my ass hurt?
Me: It was the storm Dean! Ok! Stop asking so many questions!!
Anyway back to the episode and it seems that the electrocution has caused Dean to have a massive heart attack and Sam is told by the doctor that his brother only has months left to live. I sort of feel bad for making the rape jokes now!
This is a really interesting episode so far. Sam takes Dean to a faith healer called Roy, who manages to cure him but then they discover that another person has now died from the heart illness that Dean had. Effectively the faith healer (or the reaper creature working with him) is trading one life for another. It makes me really think what I would do in that situation. If a family member or close friend was sick and I was given the choice of letting them die or instead transferring that illness to a random stranger then would I do it? I'm really not sure.
Of course no episode of Supernatural would be complete without a pretty young woman for Dean to flirt with. I'm not jealous at all! In this episode he meets Layla who has been told she only has six months to live after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. She has been waiting for months for Roy to pick her from the audience but as yet she has had no luck. After discovering what is going on, Sam calls Dean and tells him to stop any further healing from taking place because innocent people will die. And the very next person chosen from the crowd is poor Layla. Awkward! He has to fake a fire to prevent Layla from being healed.
In a great twist it is revealed that it is Roy's wife who is controlling the reaper and poor Roy really believes he is healing these people himself. Earlier on in the episode Roy said how he had been dying from Cancer and after much praying he was cured. Clearly his wife was desperate enough to perform some evil dark magic to trap a Reaper and help save her husband. It's nice to have a villain in an episode where I can actually feel some sympathy for them. Of course since then she's gone absolutely mental and is now using the reaper to kill off those people who she considers to be immoral, including gay people so actually she is a total bitch! Also Dean had better watch his back!
The episode is finished now and I think that has been my most favourite one so far. I really enjoyed it.
Also I thought it might be fun, with the episodes going forward, to award a point to one of the brothers each episode on their performance. I've noticed that in the last two episodes that Dean would have been totally screwed if Sam had not come to the rescue. I can't be bothered to think back on all the previous episodes but I have to award this episode's point to Sam as he is the one to break the curse of the reaper just in time to save his brother. So the current standing is: Sam 1: Dean 0
