Series 2, Episode 2: Everybody Loves A Clown

Browsing the internet earlier today (definitely wasn't looking at porn!) I saw a headline for an article which included the trailer for season 11 of Supernatural. Really?? There's now 11 seasons of this! At this rate it's going to take me forever to finish!

Also today, my car went in for its MOT. My luck with this car has not been great, but I was confident that things were turning around as I had had no problems with it for months. Well this confidence was misplaced as I needed two new tyres (costing £140) and repairs to the exhaust (costing another £440!). I could have cried! Looking at this from a positive point of view, it means I will now no longer be able to afford to do pretty much anything which gives me plenty of time to watch some Supernatural!

This one looks like it is going to be about scary clowns. I approve. Clowns are scary. It's something to do with the painted on smile. It's meant to be happy but underneath the clown is just a stranger and could have any kind of intent.

This is the freakiest opening to an episode so far! A clown has followed a little girl home from a fair. She wakes up to hear a jingling. She looks out of the window and the clown is in the garden staring up at her. Instead of completely losing her shit (as I would do!) she excitedly sneaks downstairs to meet the clown. What a strange girl!

Sam and Dean are burning their fathers body outside. Do hospitals really just let you do that sort of thing? Also it seems in poor taste to burn his body considering what happened to their mother. And standing that close to the burning body, wouldn't they be able to smell it? I'm completely ruining this emotional moment by thinking all this nonsense. Meanwhile Dean is doing his best pouty face. I like it.
Am I actually perving over a man as he burns his father's body? Yes...yes I think I am.

The brothers meet up with one of their dad's friends, Ellen and her daughter Jo. Dean wastes no time in coming on to Jo. He's definitely covering up for something. It's getting tiresome now. Ellen and Jo have a friend called Ash who says he can review John's notes and track down the demon but he needs 51 hours to work his way through it all. That's a very specific time frame.

Whilst waiting for Ash, Dean and Sam set off to uncover the mystery of the clown. It seems the clown killed the little girls parents but left her unharmed. Unless the clown possessed her and she killed her own parents! That's my drunken theory!

As I get drunker I'm noticing Sam's hair more. I wonder if it naturally curls like that at the bottom or if he has to style it that way. I could never have a hairstyle where it falls down the forehead like that. It'd be far too irritating.

Sam and Dean meet the manager of the circus so that they can join up and explore. Once enrolled in a job they start investigating. Although I'm not sure why they needed to get a job at the circus in order to investigate it. They only seem to be looking around those areas open to the public so why have the interview? I'm wondering if the scene was contrived just so that we can find out that the circus manager looks just like his dad from a picture they see on the wall. They drew attention to it so it has to be significant.

It wasn't significant.

Okay I've just made a major error when it comes to this blog. It's now several days since I finished the episode and I forgot to finish the blog entry and now I can't really remember what happened. It was all fairly disappointing I think. The clown story line which I think could have been really scary was sidelined by the story line of Sam trying to make Dean come to terms with the loss of their father. Don't get me wrong, that part of it was really good, but I wanted more scary clown shenanigans!

Series 2, Episode 1: In My Time Of Dying

I'm off work this week and so far I've been enjoying myself greatly. Matt and Ben came over yesterday for a games day which was fun and tonight I'm off to the pub with Sally and Andy for a quiz night. For my birthday I'm finally off to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff with Matt on Friday. (Please don't make me late for the train Matt! Our friendship can survive a lot of things but I think that might be the deal breaker!) Of course, having a week off I have to fit in some Supernatural, especially as I'm now starting the second season! Woo!

I had a Supernatural related dream last night that reminded me to watch an episode. I'll spare you the detail but suffice to say it was a very "interesting" dream, if you know what I mean. What has this series done to me?!

Of course the only person who seems to have survived the car crash (well he's the only one concious right now) is Sam. To be fair, John was on the side that the truck hit and Dean was already pretty beat up.

Dean is a ghost now! He has become separated from his body and is wandering around the hospital trying to get people to see or hear him. I'm hoping Sam will be able to hear him at some point. Sam seems to have certain psychic abilities so it would seem logical that he would be able to pick up on his brothers precence somehow.

I'm now thinking how funny it would be if Dean was actually dead and was a ghost for the rest of the series that only Sam could see or hear. Sort of like Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased). That was a great show.

The crash has had dire consequences for one of my favourite things in the show. Dean's car! I'm not a car person really but I've always quite liked his and it's been totalled. They have to get it back somehow surely! It's part of the essence of the show! Are they going to be trundling along in a little VW camper van from now on?? Actually that would be quite funny.

Sam buys a ouija board (no idea if I've spelt that right!) in order to speak to Dean after he senses him around the hospital. Meanwhile Dean has problems of his own dealing with a reaper that is picking people off. I'm not sure at the moment if this is something they can kill or if it is just taking people who have naturally reached the end of their lives.

It's all going on in this episode! John has snuck down the the hospital basement in order to summon the yellow eyed demon. He tells the demon that he wants to make a deal with him. Sam has been pissed off with his father for most of the episode as he thinks his dad cares more about hunting the demon than he does about Dean surviving. I'm guessing that the deal he wants to make might somehow be related to saving Dean's life which means their dad isn't such an arse after all!

Well I feel a bit bad for calling him an arse now because he's dead! Dean wakes up but it seems John has been taken by the demon as payment for saving him. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I've suspected for a while that their father may die at some point because I have never seen him in any of the future episodes that I've caught glimpses off, but to be honest I didn't expect him to die so soon.

Before he died, John whispered something in Dean's ear which seemed to disturb him. I'm thinking it was something along the lines of "I found those gay porn magazines that you hid in your bedroom. I know everything!"

Look at that face! He definitely knows he's been rumbled!

I'm a little bit glad John's gone. That sounds awful but he irritated me a bit and I was getting fed up of the constant search for their father. Hopefully this means that Dean and Sam can stand on their own two feet now. Plus I imagine their Dad's death will have heavy repercussions for the episodes to come. Overall I thought this was a promising start to the next season.
